Description

A study of the magnetic properties of (UxY1-x)Ga2 and (UxGd1-x)Ga2 systems exhibiting AlB2-type structure is presented. The dilution of the uranium sublattice of UGa2 (which is ferromagnetic with TC=126 K and a high degree of localization of the uranium magnetic moment) leads to a decrease in TC in both cases. The antiferromagnetic Gd-Gd and assumed U-Gd interaction introduce a frustration in the system with gadolinium, where a spin-glass-like behaviour is observed for x<0.7. (orig.)
