The influence of ultrasound on redox reactions of americium ions in aqueous solutions
Creators
Description
Stability of americium ions in various oxidation degrees under the effect of ultrasound vibrations was investigated by spectrophotometric method. It was established that americium (6) is rapidly transformed to americium (5), which in turn is slowly reduced to americium (3) in 0.5 mol/l solutions of HClO4 and HNO3. Stability of americium (5) grows with increase of acid concentration. Ultrasound accelerates oxidation of americium (5) to americium (6) by ozone in 1 mol/l HNO3 at room temperature
