Description
Considered are some aspects of the chemistry and the technology of vanadium. Described is the manufacture of pure vanadium, its physical and chemical properties, the compounds of vanadium with oxygen. Vanadium forms a series of heteropolysalts and organic complexes. Discussed are the major applications of vanadium and the state of the art in its manufacture, supplied are data on its economics. A description of the extraction of vanadium fom phosphoric pig iron, titanium-magnetite and carnotite ores is given. Given is the composition and the structure of slags and a flowsheet for reprocessing of vanadium slags. Ferrovanadium smelting and its chloridizing are reviewed in some of their aspects
