A new-type supercomplex involving a mononuclear ruthenium complex and a hexanuclear rhodium cluster

Description
Interaction between carbonyl cluster of rhodium [Rh6(CO)15(CH3CN)] and ruthenium complex [Ru(bpy)2(P-P)Cl] (BF4) (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridyl, P-P trans-1,2-bis-(diphenylphosphino)ethylene] in chloroform solution at room temperature permitted synthesizing polynuclear compound [Cl(bpy)2 Ru(P-P)Rh6(CO)15](BF4) with the yield of 76%. The compound prepared was characterized by the methods of elementary analysis, 31P NMR and absorption spectroscopy. It was ascertained that light induces decomposition of the complex cluster fragment as a result of phototransfer of energy or electron from ruthenium via bridge ligand to the fragment
Abstract (Russian)
Взаимодействием карбонильного кластера родия [Rh6(CO)15(CH3CN)] с комплексом рутения Ru(bpy)2(P-P)Cl] (BF4) [bpy = 2,2'-бипиридил, Р-Р =транс-1,2-бис-(дифенилфосфино)этилен) в растворе хлороформа при комнатной температуре синтезировано полиядерное соединение [Cl(bpy)2 Ru(P-P)Rh6(CO)15](BF4) с выходом 76%. Полученное соединение охарактиризовано методами элементного анализа, ЯМР 31P и абсорбционной спектроскопии. Установлено, что под действием света происходит разложение кластерного фрагмента комплекса в результате фотопереноса энергии или электрона от рутения через мостиковый лиганд на этот фрагментAdditional details
