Band-theory analysis of anisotropic transport in La2CuO4-based superconductors

  • 1. Condensed Matter Physics Branch, Naval Research Laboratory, Washington, DC 20375-5000

Description

The anisotropic resistivity rho/sub α//sub α/ and Hall coefficient R/sub α//sub β//sub γ/ of La/sub 2-//sub x/M/sub x/CuO4 are analyzed as a function of x, using a rigid-band treatment of the previously given linearized augmented plane-wave (LAPW) bands of tetragonal La2CuO4. The experimental rho/sub x//sub x/(T) is used to extract λ/sub tr/≅3.8, which permits a conventional electron-phonon interpretation of the high T/sub c/. The Hall coefficients are qualitatively explained, including sign discrepancies in published measurements
