Method to analyze gas mixtures and suitable electron capture-detector to perform the method
Description
A symmetrically cylindrical electron-capture detector suitable for direct current or pulsed operation. It is used to measure electron absorption properties of the eluate or gas mixture of a gas chromatograph or to detect an electron-negative gas, e.g. sulphur hexafluoride, in leak detectors. The collector electrode and the ionization volume defining electrode are both cylinder shaped coaxially aligned and are mechanically connected by a ceramic insulator lying between them. Inonizing radiation is produced from a titanium, scandium or nickel 63 foil as source. It ionizes the gas to be investigated flowing into the inonization volume. The coaxial space between the two electrodes should not exceed 0.32 cm. (ORU)

Asymmetrisch-zylindrischer Elektroneneinfangdetektor, der fuer Gleichstrom-od. Impuls-Betrieb geeignet ist. Er findet Verwendung beim Messen der Elektronenabsorptionseigenschaften des Elnats bzw. Gasgemischen eines Gaschromatographen oder zum Nachweis eines elektronegativen Gases, z.B. Schwefelhexafluorid, in Leckdetektoren. Die Kollektorelektrode und die das Ionisationsvolumen definierende Elektrode sind beide zylindrisch geformt, koaxial ausgefluchtet und mittels eines zwischenliegenden keramischen Isolators mechanisch verbunden. Ionisierende Strahlung wird von einer Folie aus Titan, Scandium oder Nickel-63 als Quelle erzeugt. Sie ionisiert das in das Ionisationsvolumen einstroemende Untersuchungsgas. Der koaxiale Abstand beider Elektroden darf 0,32cm nicht uebersteigen. (ORU)Files
