N-type current-voltage characteristic of ultrathin metal filaments in the superconducting state

Description
An investigation was made of the current-voltage characteristics of ultrathin (30--40 A in diameter) mercury filaments formed by forcing the liquid metal into channels in chrysotile asbestos. The investigation was carried out at temperatures of 1.7--4.2 0K, i.e., in the normal and superconducting states. A falling N-type region was observed on transition to the superconducting state. Several theoretical models were considered tentatively by way of explanation of this falling region in the characteristics
