Trends in environmental technologies and Toshiba's status
- 1. Toshiba Corp., Kawasaki, Kanagawa (Japan)
Description
This paper describes environmental technologies which Toshiba has been developing in its E and E (electronics and energy) business fields to improve the global environment. To contribute to solving the global warming problem, we are promoting the development of energy systems for the reduction of CO2 emissions, such as power generation systems utilizing nuclear energy and natural energy, and high-efficiency power generation and energy saving systems. CFC reduction technologies to protect the ozone layer, technologies to combat acid rain and air pollution, and water treatment and waste incineration technologies to maintain our living environment are also objectives in our R and D activities. In addition, we are striving to develop a variety of products and technologies which reduce the burden on the environment. (author)
