Quantitative non-destructive assay and identifying the matrix of unknown nuclear material

  • 1. Institute for Isotope and Surface Chemistry, Budapest (Hungary)
  • 2. Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority, Budapest (Hungary)

Description

A gamma-spectrometric method for determining the total nuclear material content of homogeneous nuclear-material pellets or powder of unknown origin with a total uncertainty of less than 2% is presented. From these results the matrix of the samples is identified for certain uranium compounds (U3O8, UO2, uranium-nitrate and uranil-acetate)
