Design and Analysis of a Beam Dumper for a High-power Laser

  • 1. LIG Nex1 Co., Yongin (Korea, Republic of)

Description

Equipment that uses a high-power laser is continuously being improved and applied to various fields. The high-power laser beam is transmitted through the equipment's optical system. Unfortunately, the optical system is heated by the reflected and transmitted beam, which decreases its performance. Therefore, it is important to design a beam dumper that effectively reduces unnecessary beams. In this study, we designed a beam dumper for a high-power laser and analyzed its performance through modeling and simulation. We also conducted an experiment that measured the reflected energy using a photodetector.
