Description
Results of the second stage of works on the development of radiometric scale of the Late Cenozoic of Eastern Paraetethys are presented. Radiometric ages of depositions are determined using the method of 238U fission tracks in volcanic glass. Interlayers of ashes in Azerbaijan Maeotian and Pontian cross sections were the main objects of the investigations. Radiometric age of the samples (from 5.84±0.53 to 9.54±0.77 mln. years) confirmed the assumption that Pontian layer not only belongs to Miocene as a whole, but the boundary between Miocene and Pliocene (5.4 mln. years) is located above the roof of the Black sea area Pontian layer
