Process for preparing sintered uranium dioxide nuclear fuel
Creators
Description
Uranium dioxide is prepared for use as fuel in nuclear reactors by sintering it to the desired density at a temperature less than 13000C in a chemically controlled gas atmosphere comprised of at least two gases which in equilibrium provide an oxygen partial pressure sufficient to maintain the uranium dioxide composition at an oxygen/uranium ratio of at least 2.005 at the sintering temperature. 7 Claims, No Drawings
