  • 1. Nauchno-Izsledovatelski Inst. po Radiologiya i Radiatsionna Khigiena, Sofia (Bulgaria)

Description

Objective assessment of a postoperative autograft of the parathyroid glands and repeated control is made by gamma camera investigation. A method of radioisotope registration of autograft with 201Tl-chloride was used. The respective forearm is scanned on the first hour after radionuclide application; here an area of intensive deposition of the marker is visualized with circinate form, corresponding to the localization of the graft. Parallel pre-and postoperative investigations with 75Se methionine were also carried out; they helped to establish hyperplasia of the thymus as well, which may be of aid to the surgeon in planning the extent of the operative intervation. 3 figs., 6 refs
