Whole abdominal irradiation using moving strip technique in ovarian cancer

  • 1. Keio Univ., Tokyo (Japan). School of Medicine

Description

Whole abdominal irradiation using a new moving strip technique was carried out in ten postoperative patients with ovarian cancer. In order to reduce intraabdominal relapse, it is necessary to irradiate the whole abdominal contents. The details of the technique were introduced. Acute reactions were not problematic except for myelosupression. We continued treatment until WBC of 2,000/mm3, platelet count of 50,000/mm3 or even lower, and met no episodes of fever or bleeding. Although the follow-up periods were short (up to 13 months), there have been no symptomatic complications due to radiotherapy. (author)
