Description
This study was conducted to estimate indoor gamma doses to public from Norm in some building materials and their by - products, which were used in construction of houses in Libya. Activity levels of 226Ra, 232Th and 40k were calculated and radium equivalent representative level index values for all samples were estimated, it has been found that the radium equivalent activity concentration (Raeq) varied from 4.77bq Kg-1 in gypsum to 369 Bq Kg-1 in ceramic. All results found to be in good agreement with the criteria set by NEA-OECD except the red bricks and ceramic. The average indoor gamma absorbed dose was also calculated and found equivalent to 29.61 nGyh-1.(author)
