Description

Radiation Standards Section (RSS), Radiation Safety Systems Division, BARC has established a beta calibration facility for the calibration of beta detectors and skin dose monitors used in the field of radiation protection. The facility has been established to calibrate detectors in the 90Sr-90Y and 85Kr standard fields. Skin dose monitors manufactured by Electronics Corporation of India Ltd. (EClL), Hyderabad, were calibrated using a 90Sr-90Y source provided by ECIL. The source was first tested for its suitability to be used as a reference source as per ISO 6980 guidelines before taking it up for standardization. The source output was then standardized and calibration of skin dose monitors was carried out in the standard field
