Biomedical and biophysical research and calibration projects: radiation physics. Determination of neutron fluence and kerma spectra

Description

Knowledge of neutron therapy beam spectra is of interest as a measure of beam quality. Spectra have been measured in the National Accelerator Centre neutron therapy beam for a variety of beam conditions. The time-of-flight technique is one of the most convenient ways to measure neutron spectra, but suitable facilities are usually not available on therapy machines. Measurements are presented that are probably the first made of the p/Be reaction on a clinical machine using the time-of-flight method. 5 refs., 4 figs., 2 tabs
