Spain's PETAVA project

  • 1. Tecnatom, Madrid (Spain)

Description

Early in 1993 Spain began a programme, PETEVA, on upper vessel head penetration cracking which meant a complete inspection and repair technique validation process. The aim of PETEVA was to provide answers to the inspection and repair problems of the seven Spanish PWRs. The situation at each of these PWR stations is given and the inspection techniques used are described; these include eddy current and ultrasonic methods. Details of the inspection at the Jose Cabrera plant, the only station where cracks have been found, are given. (UK)
