Low-frequency sound velocity and related thermodynamic properties in supercooled water
Description
The author investigates the possibility of describing the low-frequency sound velocity measurements and the related adiabatic compressibility in the supercooled region of liquid water at 1 atm as power laws of the type already found for other thermodynamic properties. It is also shown that such laws lead to a thermodynamic inconsistency at the lowest temperatures. On this basis, a prediction of a divergence of the sound velocity at temperatures below the experimentally investigated range does not appear reasonable. (author)
