Radiodiagnosis of complicated urethral strictures
Description
Complicated urethral strictures were detected in 56.7% of all hospitalized patients and in 64.1% of all operated patients. Some complications were asymptomatic therefore X-ray methods played a major role in their diagnosis. On X-ray investigation latent chronic pyelonephritis was detected in 31 of 64 patients, urolithiasis - in 22 of 131 patients, abnormal renal cavity structure in 7 patients, vesicourethral reflux in 7 patients. Sometimes the above methods do not permit the detection of complications like urinary fistulas a way off the urethra, false passages, purulent cavities, urethral zones preserved in double obliteration, extended strictures localized in the distal urethra. The X-ray methods should be combined with other methods including surgery
