Growing of zincite crystals from solutions in melt of zinc oxide salts

  • 1. AN SSSR, Novosibirsk. Inst. Fiziki Poluprovodnikov

Description

The dependence of the habit of zinc oxide crystals on conditions of growing from a molten oxide solution: meta-and tetraborate of lithium and natrium, bismuth oxide, boric oxide, molybdate, phosphate, vanadate and zinc wolframate was investigated. The plate-like, needle and hollow prismatic crystals were obtained. More convenient for repeated growth of large plate-like crystals (thickness up to 1 mm and 2-4 cm2 in size) is non-volatile and undecomposed phosphate-wolframate melt
