Description
A new approach to the nozzle design of the internal supersonic gas-targets is suggested. Using this approach one can produce internal-target beams not only from expensive gaseous materials but also from nonvolatile substances. It is based on the mechanism of the phase volume decrease of an atomic beam, which is described in detail. The advantages of this approach over the standard gas-jet target technique are discussed.
