ADS-related initiatives in the US
Description
Even though there are no government-funded ADS initiatives in the USA, there are many activities that are relevant for ADS, particularly in the domain of high-power superconducting accelerators. The talk will provide an overview of these activities, including operational experience from CEBAF (electrons) and SNS (protons), prototyping of Project X linac cavities, and a brief introduction to topics presented in detail later in the conference. There have been several conferences on the use of Thorium as a nuclear fuel and these will be summarized for completeness. (author)
