Experimental testing the RPKh-theory of superconducting wire stability

Description
Classical theory imposes stringent requirements for the wire stability. A new approach to stability theory taking account of the real smearing transition of superconductor to the normal state (RPKh-theory) is developed for the last years. In this relation experimental testing of superconducting wire with a known characteristic in external magnetic field is carried out. Experiments were carried out with niobium-zirconium wire encased in brass cladding, the outer diameter being 0.33 mm, the superconducting fibre diameter - 0.26mm. The carried out experiments quantitatively confirm conclusions of the superconductor stability RPKh-theory on much higher stability of real wires in comparison with predictions of classical theory and on possible removal of the flow abrupt change, the external field and current in a wire being smoothly varied
