Description
This report provides information on the risk analysis performed in conjunction with the study of alternatives for the long-term management of the defense high-level radioactive waste at the Hanford Reservation, Richland, Washington. The risk analysis was done on a modular basis. The modules include: waste retrieval, waste preparation, waste immobilization, transportation, and storage and disposal. Based on the values obtained in this risk analysis, it is apparent that the overall risk either to an individual or to the population is extremely low
