Safety analysis for nuclear fuel cycle at IHI

  • 1. Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co. Ltd., Tokyo (Japan)

Description

Safety analysis of nuclear fuel cycle facilities is intended to certify safety for the public and workers. The conventional analysis technique that covers seismic, structure, heat-transfer, and fluid-dynamics is used for safety evaluation. Analysis techniques related to nuclear fields such as radiation safety are also required. On the other hand, economical facility or equipment designs are needed for commercial installation. Hence, highly sophisticated analysis techniques are needed to achieve both safety and economic design. This report describes the analysis technique used in the nuclear area, such as criticality analysis, dose evaluation, shielding and accident analyses. (author)
