In this work, the detection of secondary gamma rays in a tightly shielded Germanium detector, together with a high intensity heavy ion beam on a thick target is used to measure the fusion cross section for the 12 C + 12 C system at very low energies. (Author) 14 refs., 1 tab., 8 figs
