Human Resource Management for New Nuclear Power Programmes

Description

This publication draws upon two previous IAEA publications related to the topic of human resource development for nuclear power programmes: Milestones in the Development of a National Infrastructure for Nuclear Power [1] and Managing Human Resources in the Field of Nuclear Energy [2]. This publication aims to provide Member States with a structured approach to developing an effective HRM strategy, which can be adapted to suit the nature and scope of a national programme. It identifies the four components of an integrated HRM strategy particularly relevant for countries developing nuclear power for the first time and examines these issues in the context of each phase of the Milestones Approach. In each phase, the publication identifies the required actions related to these issues, and presents observations and lessons learned from Member States. The target audience for this publication is those individuals responsible for HRM in countries developing a nuclear power programme for the first time. However, it may also be useful to countries considering an expansion of an existing programme, especially if following a significant period since the last construction occurred.
