Operating status And Developments Of The JULIC H Compact Cyclotron
Description
This variable-energy compact cyclotron (CV 28) is equipped to accelerate protons, deuterons, He and alpha-particles. The ion source as well as the extraction system has been developed. An internal target system for high radiation application has been developed and installed. A +- 60 degree switching magnet allows to switch the beam to 7 external target stations. 3 separately shielded target rooms allow a flexible use for a wide range of applications such as production of short-lived isotopes, activation analysis, radiation damage studies in metals and studies of biological effects of fast neutron activation. The absolute beam energy can be determined by measuring the spatial separation between neighbouring bunches in the transport system
