Radiation protection/shield design
Description
Radiation protection/shielding design of a nuclear facility requires a coordinated effort of many engineering disciplines to meet the requirements imposed by regulations. In the following discussion, the system approach to Clinch River Breeder Reactor Plant (CRBRP) radiation protection will be described, and the program developed to implement this approach will be defined. In addition, the principal shielding design problems of LMFBR nuclear reactor systems will be discussed in realtion to LWR nuclear reactor system shielding designs. The methodology used to analyze these problems in the U.S. LMFBR program, the resultant design solutions, and the experimental verification of these designs and/or methods will be discussed. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Die strahlenschutzmaessige und abschirmgerechte Auslegung einer kerntechnischen Anlage erfordert die gemeinsame Anstrengung vieler technischer Fachgebiete, um den durch Vorschriften auferlegten Erfordernissen zu genuegen. In der folgenden Diskussion wird die systemtechnische Loesung fuer den Strahlenschutz der Clinch River Breeder Reactor Plant (CRBRP) beschrieben und das Programm zur Durchfuehrung dieser Loesung umrissen. Weiter werden die Hauptprobleme bei der Auslegung der Abschirmung fuer fluessigmetallgekuehlte Brutreaktoren im Vergleich zur Auslegung der Abschirmung fuer Leichtwasserreaktorsysteme diskutiert. Es werden die Methoden, um diese Probleme beim amerikanischen Natriumbrueterprogramm zu analysieren, die resultierenden Auslegungsloesungen und die experimentelle Bestaetigung dieser Auslegungen und/oder Methoden besprochen.
