Application of modal analysis for seismic verification of NPP in Czech and Slovak Republics

Creators

Description

The paper refers to the problem of seismic upgrading of already existing nuclear power plants (NPPs) in Czech and Slovak Republics. These NPPs have been built about ten years ago with the respect to very low seismic intensity of the site. According to present standards and practice the seismic intensity of the site is much higher. The seismic dynamic analysis has been elaborated by the modal analysis and by the time history methods. The results of both methods are compared and discussed in order to find the most economical but still reliable method for seismic upgrading of the NPPs structures
