Radiation sanitary evaluation of water in polymetal mines in Bulgaria
Creators
Description
The content of natural uranium and radium-226 in mine waters was studied. Water sources from 35 polymetal mines were included in the study. The results were compared with the threshold concentrations for flowing surface waters. It is noted that some divergences from the normatives exist. It is recommended that specialists in radiation monitory should carefully control any new water source that may appear. When new such sources are detected the underground waters should be examined for the content in them of natural uranium and radium-226. (authors)
