Development of decomposition treatment technique of spent resin by supercritical water

Description
In order to decompose spent resin in atomic power plant by high pressure and high temperature supercritical water, the basic data were obtained. HCR-W2-H (50.6% water content) was used as cation exchange resin. Add cation exchange resin, oxidizing agent and water in a batch type reactor and sealed, then steep the reactor in molten salt for the constant period. When the cation exchange resin was decomposed by 30 Mpa supercritical water at 400degC for 30 min, more than 99% resin was decomposed by adding 7 times of hydrogen peroxide as much as stoichiometric quantity of resin. The products were carbon dioxide, water and sulfuric acid. The decomposition reaction has at least two reaction pathways and decomposition of acetic acid is the rate-determining step in one of them.
