Description

The environmental background radiation level in the Ganjam districts of Odisha state was carried out first time. The measured gamma radiation varies from 90.0 to 225 nSv/h. The significant variation of the gamma radiation levels in the study area are mainly due to its varying topographical conditions. The average external radiation of the study area was 1.2 mSv h-1, which was higher than the world average value of 1 mSvh-1 as per UNSCEAR. (author)
