Track registration from solution medium and its applications in nuclear science - a review
- 1. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay (India). Radiochemistry Div.
Description
The technique of track registration from solution medium has been developed and extensively used in this laboratory. The flexibility and ease of sample preparation on the one hand and the reduction of overall time of scanning and evaluation on the other stemming from the uniform registration of tracks on the detector has made this technique very useful for various applications in nuclear science and technology. This necessitated the studies on the characteristics of track registration and evaluation of registration efficiencies. Some of the major areas in which this technique is utilised are: (1) elemental analysis in very low concentration range, (2) thermal neutron flux measurements and (3) fission monitor for absolute fission yield measurements. These applications and associated basic studies have been briefly summarised. (author)
