The magnetic structure of Bi2Fe4O9 - a neutron diffraction study
Creators

Description
A neutron diffraction study of Bi2Fe4O9 has revealed that this compound undergoes a transition, at Tsub(N)=(264+-3) K, from a paramagnetic to an antiferromagnetic state. Below Tsub(N) the magnetic structure is characterized by (a) the chemical lattice primitive translations are anti-translations of the magnetic lattice; (b) the magnetic moments have the magnitude (4.95+-0.03)μsub(B) and are parallel to the a-b plane; and (c) the magnetic space group is Psub(C)2/m.
