Description

In the last decade in Russia and abroad great interest has been displayed in two-section reactor-blankets with one-way neutron section coupling (cascade-type blankets). These facilities are meant for operation in the power and transmutation electronuclear plants, as applied to which, they allow a significant lowering of required charged particle accelerator power. There are theoretical and design works on cascade-type reactors, but no experimental works have been presented up to now. The article presents the results of these kind first experiments carried out on subcritical uranium-neptunium-237 efficiency as a means to reach the one-way section coupling and also provided an operational experience of cascade reactor facilities together with the electron accelerator
