Description

X-ray cargo inspection systems installed in airports and borders, are used to identify contraband such as nuclear materials, explosives, or drugs. It includes X-ray generator, cargo transporting equipment, control system and image processing system. The image processing system, particularly, is composed of sensor module, data acquisition system, control unit and computer. In this study, we have been developed a data acquisition system for FPGA-based 64-channel image sensor module. The system produces local timing signals to control the sensor module, digitize analog output signals generated from sensor module, and transmit digital data sequentially to control unit without loss. The timing of the main control signals was verifed by using a logic analyzer. The detector array was irradiated with visible light, and output pulses corresponding to the incident direction and intensity were observed by oscilloscope. Finally, the images were successfully captured according to the intensity of visible light by data acquisition software
