Nuclear currents and form factors in the Skyrme model

Creators

Description

The application of the Skyrme model to the construction of the nuclear electromagnetic and axial current operators is discussed. Within the model nucleon and nuclear structure is treated in an integrated way. The model provides a theoretically compact alternative to the conventional phenomenological meson exchange description of nuclear many body effects. The topological soliton approach provides a largely model independent description of isoscalar electromagnetic structure of the nucleons and nuclei. 34 refs.; 7 figs
