Description
The new Fluorinel and Storage (FAST) Facility at the Idaho Chemical Processing Plant (ICPP) provides underwater irradiated nuclear fuel storage and a head-end dissolution process for various irradiated nuclear fuels. This paper provides a description of the new facility which has been designed to include state-of-the-art technology in fuel storage systems and remote operation and maintenance process equipment in a high radiation process cell. The ICPP is located at the US Department of Energy's Idaho National Engineering Laboratory (INEL) near Idaho Falls, Idaho
