Two-body interaction in the reaction 9Be(n,nn)αα at 14 MeV. I. Existence of resonating states

Description

We have studied the basic mechanisms of the reaction 9Be(n,nn)αα and their application to an experiment in which the 2 impulsion vectors of the neutrons are measured. We have performed kinematic and phase space calculations. An analysis of groups of events (n,2n) observed in the (T1,T2) plot shows a sequence of 2 body interactions: inelastic scattering 9Be(n,n') followed by emission of neutrons 9Be* → 8Be* + n of the decay of the (6,76 - 7,94 - 9,1 MeV) levels of 9Be to 8Be in the (0+) and (2+) states. Les mecanismes de la reaction 9Be(n,nn)αα et leur application a l'experience ou sont mesures simultanement les vecteurs impulsions des neutrons ont etes etudies. Les calculs cinematiques et d'espace de phases sont presentes. L'analyse des groupements d'evenements (n,2n) observes dans le diagramme (T1,T2) met en evidence une suite d'interactions a 2 corps: diffusion inelastique 9Be(n,n') sur les niveaux (6,76 - 7,94 - 9,1 MeV) qui se desintegrent par emission neutron avec formation du 8Be dans les etats (0+) et (2+)
