Description

The problem of the relativistic positronium breakup by an external field in impulse approximation is considered. The relativistic wave functions of a two-particle bound system and the Thomas-Fermi atomic potential are used to calculate the cross section. It is shown that the cross section of the process depends on the projection of the positronium spin onto its momentum. The dependence of the cross section on the atomic number is obtained for the ground state as well as for excited S states
