Multipion production in nuclear collisions

We discuss two aspects of multipion production in nuclear collisions: (1) the negative pion multiplicity distribution, and (2) the π-π- correlation function. The emphasis is on how these observables could be used to search for signals of collective phenomena in nuclear collisions
