Reproducibility of characterizing models for sources of tsunamis arising from interplate earthquakes of magnitudes up to Mw 8.8

In this study, we built characterizing models for tsunami sources based on Sugino et al. (2014) for interplate earthquakes of magnitudes up to Mw 8.8 and earthquakes along the Nankai Trough. To evaluate the reproducibility of the models, we calculated the geometric mean K and the geometric standard deviation κ based on Aida's work (1977). The calculated values of κ were uniformly higher than those reported by Sugino et al. (2014), who calculated κ for earthquakes with magnitudes Mw 8.9 or more. We also attempted to improve the characterizing models for the tsunami source considered by Sugino et al. (2014) based on the results of developed models. Even in the case of the characterized source model for Mw 8.1, it was found that two-level slip distribution in a large slip area and a background area is more effective than the uniform slip based on the study by Sugino et al. 本研究では,Mw8.8以下のプレート間地震津波で南海トラフ沿いで発生した地震を対象に,杉野ら(2014)の設定に基づく特性化波源モデルを作成し,再現性指標である相田(1977)の幾何平均K・幾何標準偏差κを算出し評価を行った.その結果,杉野ら(2014)のMw8.9以上の超大規模クラスの特性化波源モデルに比べκの値が大きくなった.また,設定した特性化波源モデルの結果を踏まえ,杉野ら(2014)の特性化波源モデルのMwによる区分の見直しを試みた.その結果,Mw8.1の特性化波源モデルの場合でも,杉野ら(2014)の一様すべりのモデルより,大すべり域を設けた2段階のすべり分布が有効であることが分かった.(著者)Additional details
