Can elementary scalar particles exist. Pt. 2

Description
Strong evidence supports the notion that pure Φ4 field theory is a non-interacting, ''trival'' theory. Should such a situation persist when gauge fields are present, the idea that elementary scalars can break symmetries spontaneously is called into question. Previously, we applied the Monte Carlo renormalization group to pure φ4 field theory and to the SU(2)-Higgs model; here we consider the U(1)-Higgs model. No evidence for a non-trivial continuum theory was uncovered in any of these limits of the standard model of the weak interaction. (orig.)
