Some lessons of an accident at the Three-Mile-Island NPP

Description
Main causes of Three Mile Island accident due to failure of the second circuit water supply system are considered. Data on expenditure for electric power loss compensation resulted from NPP shutdown and costs of reactor core repair are given. Measures on safe operation of nuclear facilities taken by a number of countries having once-through steam generator NPPs are described. It is shown that the given accident resulted not only in technical and economical sequences but also political and phsycological
