Reactor core
Description
A fuel rod has a gas plenum below a fuel pellet, and a handle window portion to be handled comprising cross-like blades notched at a central portion is disposed to the upper end of an effective portion of a control rod. The upper end of the effective portion of the control rod is disposed at a position equal with or lower by 5 to 10cm than the upper end of the effective portion of a fuel assembly. Then, since the axial length of the effective portion of the fuel assembly controlled by control rods is maintained, and the relation of the positions between the upper end of the effective portion of the control rod and the lower end of the effective portion of the fuel assembly upon withdrawal for all of the control rod is maintained in the same manner as in the prior art, degradation of performance relative to reactor shutdown margin and scram reactivity can be prevented.
