Mechanism of scattering of electrons and phonons by Abrikosov vortex filaments in vanadium
Description
The thermal conductivity of two vanadium specimens with electric resistivity ratios ρ300K/ρ4,2K=44 and 14,4 in the superconductivity and mixed states is investigated. The lattice component of the thermal conductivity in the superconducting state is separated out by comparing the theory with the experimental data for a more ''contaminated'' specimen. The effective cross section for scattering of phonons by the vortex filaments is determined by analyzing the dependence of the lattice thermal conductivity on the magnetic field strength in the mixed state near Hc1. The cross section is found to be of the same order of magnitude as that for scattering of electron excitations by vortex filaments
