Plutonium warehoused in La Hague 2010-2016

Description

This note presents and comments data mainly provided by Areva on the geographical origins and quantities of plutonium warehoused in La Hague since 2007. This plutonium can be extracted from irradiated nuclear fuels and packed under the form PuO2 powder, present in pellets of hybrid oxides (UO2-PuO2) inserted in MOX fuel pencils rejected by the MELOX plant and warehoused in pools, present in irradiated UOX fuels which may be reprocessed, and present in MOX and URE (enriched reprocessed uranium) fuels which will not be reprocessed
