Study on neutron diffraction on reactor beam

Description

Results are presented of neutron diffraction experiments obtained on horizontal neutron beams of an atomic power station for the second 10 years of its operation. The investigations are based on two fundamental properties of neutron-matter interaction: first, a non-monotonous depeng dence of the thermal neutron scattering cross section on the atomic number of elements; second, magnetic interaction of neutron spin with magnetic moments of crystal-lattice atoms. The results have been generalized on three principal trends: 1) investigation of structures of compounds with light atoms; 2) precision analysis of the hydrogen content in a compound; 3) investigation of magnetic structures and anomalies of properties connected with phase transformations
